These are solid disks, but far noisier than WD alternatives in my experience so far.

I bought this when I got a 2 bay Synology NAS disk station. I love it! It screwed right in place and powered up fine. I've only had it for a few months but it runs wonderfully. Its a really thick drive, if you are buying this for a regular PC I'm not sure it will fit the drive bays. But it works in a NAS.

I purchased 4 of these drives to populate a Synology NAS. The NAS is on 24x7, but has very low utilization. The bad news is that 3/4 of these drives developed bad sectors, began throwing SMART errors, and needed to be replaced in less than a year. The good news is that the drives were under warranty, and the replacement process with Western Digital was relatively quick and painless. That being said, I looked at this as a 5 year+ solution for my home storage needs, and I have very little confidence that the drives will be reliable beyond their initial warranty. Speed and performance have met expectations, but I am very disappointed with the reliability of these drives.
